A new marketing body for the worldwide Connected TV industry has been announced, called the Connected TV Marketing Association (CTVMA).

In a statement on their website, founders James Grant Hay and Zachary Weiner describe 2011 as marking a "turning point" in the history of television, as connected devices proliferate, social TV and IPTV gain momentum, and the business and advertising models for television evolve.

Stating that the new association aims to "come together in an open industry forum of debate with fresh ideas, to set out new standards, and to consult widely on an open industry terms of reference […] in recognition of an old industry, about to be born anew."

The CTVMA will bring together a broad spectrum of CEMs, operators, ad networks and organisations from the advertising, media, broadcasting, programming and entertainment industries. It will be an international body, with members throughout Europe, Australia, Asia and the US, according to the founders.

James Grant Hay is the founder and CEO of InShot, a strategic consultancy specialising in Connected TV strategy, and will take on the role of president of the CTVMA's APAC operations. Zachary Wiener has set up several marketing consultancies, and will be president of the CTVMA's North American operations.
