US firm Entone has been confirmed as the set-top box partner chosen by Swiss telco Sunrise Communications for the IPTV service it launched last month.

Advanced logistic services are also being provided by Entone’s local partner Adrenio to further help Sunrise accelerate their deployment of IPTV services.

“To position us for growth, we need reliable, quality products that can enable us to continue to deliver differentiating services,” said Thomas Leber, Senior Manager, Wireline at Sunrise. “Entone’s strong commitment to product support was a key factor in our decision to deploy the Amulet [set-top box]. Amulet also easily integrates with our eco-system partners, allowing us to rapidly deploy IPTV services across our expanding footprint.

Sunrise launched its service on January 23rd, offering over 160 TV channels (including 29 in high-definition) and 80 radio channels, as well as a substantial catch-up TV service called "ComeBack TV' and the ability to pause live TV ("Live Pause").

The telco has 2.97mn customers across Switzerland, offering fixed and mobile telephony, broadband and now IPTV. Around 85% of Swiss households are within reach of its unbundled broadband services.
