Social TV 2012 skyscraper (2)

UK-based online video service LOVEFiLM is to host its first ever director's Q&A and commentary event, featuring Joe Cornish, director of 2011 comedy Attack the Block.

The event will take place tomorrow (February 21st), when LOVEFiLM subscribers will be able to watch an exclusive streaming of the film while listening to live commentary from Joe and its stars Alex Esmail and Nick Frost.

Fans will also be able to put forward their questions to Messrs. Cornish and Frost via a dedicated chatroom on the same page.

LOVEFiLM's live Q&A session for Attack the Block will start at 8pm GMT on February 21st and can be accessed here.

Editor's view: LOVEFiLM has been making laudable efforts recently to innovate beyond its competition: another instance saw the live streaming of the British Independent Film Awards last December.

This focus on innovation is likely due in part to the UK arrival of Netflix last month and the imminent debut of the YouView platform (backed by the country's main broadcasters and ISPs).

As a result of this increase in competion, we should see some very exciting new ideas in the UK's fast-moving online video scene over the coming year.
