Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN has confirmed to news portal Telecoms.com that it will be cutting 4,100 jobs in Germany and Finland by the end of 2013.

The move is being made as the company seeks to reduce its headcount by 17,000 (almost a quarter of its global workforce) within the next two years, as part of plans to streamline its business and focus purely on mobile broadband.

An NSN spokesperson has confirmed to Telecoms.com (also published by Informa Telecoms & Media, along with IPTV News) that it will be cutting 2,900 jobs in Germany and 1,200 in Finland. The "vast majority" of cuts are expected to be made by the end of this year.
