Simon Calver, LOVEFiLM Simon Calver, CEO of UK-headquartered online video rental service LOVEFiLM, has announced that he is leaving the company after nearly seven years in charge.

During his time in charge, Mr. Calver has overseen LOVEFiLM's 2006 merger with rival ScreenSelect, the acquisition in 2008 of Amazon's DVD rental business in the UK and Germany, the company's first national TV campaign, and the eventual acquisition last year of LOVEFiLM by Amazon.

The LOVEFiLM service, which is available in the UK, Germany and Scandinavia, now has over 2mn subscribers across Europe and is available on a number of connected devices, included PCs and Macs, iPads and games consoles such as the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Mr. Calver is handing over the reins to Chief Operating Officer Jim Buckle and heading to Mothercare, where he will lead efforts to turn around losses at the ailing retailer.
