A report issued at the China Network Audio-visual Industry Forum held recently in Shanghai found that there are now 394mn viewers of online video in China.

According to reports in local news source People's Daily Online, this figure is predicted to rise to 445mn in 2012, as Chinese consumers start showing an appetite for over-the-top (OTT) video services such as Tudou, due to their flexibility and greater programming options.

The report quotes Luo Jianhui, chief of Network Audio-Visual Programs Management Department of the State Administration of Radio Film and Television, as saying that the number of IPTV users in three-network integration pilot areas of China has now reached 3.5mn.
