Israeli firm Celeno has won orders for its in-home Wi-Fi technology from German telco Deutsche Telekom and Australian ISP iiNet.
iiNet has selected Celeno-enabled Wi-Fi Ethernet bridges to support wireless delivery of its IPTV service, based on the white label Fetch TV service which has been deployed by a number of other Australian service providers, including Internode, Optus and Adam Internet.
The wireless bridge links the set-top box to the modem over a wireless connection, and offers plug-and-play self-installation for customers. iiNet serves over 1.3mn customers across Australia with broadband, telephony and IPTV services.
Deutsche Telekom has selected Celeno's CL1820 Wi-Fi chip and OptimizAIR technology to power its Speedport W 102 Bridge, which will enable the telco to distribute its IPTV service 'T-Home Entertain' wirelessly throughout subscribers' homes.
The Speedport W 102 bridge enables customers to self-install their media receiver DVR unit, as well as place their set-top boxes and TVs anywhere in the home and access time-shifted content recorded on a master DVR from any set-top in their home. Subscribers using the Speedport W 102 Bridge can expand their network to up to four video adapters in their home.
Deutsche Telekom will make the Speedport W 102 Bridge Duo available to customers in Telekom Shops, its online shop, and from Deutsche Telekom dealers. The unit will cost €149.99 as a one-off payment, or €3.95 per month over a 24-month period.
Germany's incumbent telco had reached 1.375mn subscribers for its German IPTV service 'T-Home Entertain' by the end of the third quarter of this year, having added 74,000 customers in the three-month period.
